Heather M. Knutson

Heather has advised and advocated on behalf of Hawaii employers since 2004. She regularly counsels companies on human resource issues, and represents companies in litigation and alternative dispute resolution of federal and state discrimination, harassment, disability, whistleblower, labor and other matters. Heather’s litigation experience includes extensive involvement in handling all aspects of discovery as well as working on trial and labor arbitration teams in which favorable results were obtained for firm clients. In recent years, Heather has been called upon to provide guidance on implementing reductions-in-force to ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws including OWBPA and ADEA. She has experience drafting separation agreements and other documents relating to changes to the employment relationship.

Heather has served on the Board of Directors of SHRM Hawaii for four years and is currently Vice President – Serving the Professional.  She regularly speaks on employment law matters to community groups, including the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, Castle Colleagues, Weinberg Fellows and Lorman Education Services. She has served as a mediator at the Mediation Center of the Pacific, successfully resolving matters brought before her.
